School Curriculum

The Nature Center offers nature studies for grades PreK-12. These programs are designed to follow the specifications of the Illinois State Board Of Education. Programs are geared to encouraging active participation by the students through hands-on activities and outdoor exploration.

If you don't see a program that suits your classroom, let us design a program that will fit your specific needs and classroom curriculum.

In-House field trips are offered through the Nature Center. Let us bring the trip to you and you will save on transportation costs and chaperone arrangements.

Assemblies and After School Academies

The Nature Center also hosts a variety of programs and assemblies off-site for schools, scout groups and individuals.

Resource Lending Trunks

Are you teaching about Illinois? Would you like to borrow an Resource Trunk to supplement your lessons?

The Bartlett Nature Center has Resource Trunks available for loan filled with materials, guides, activity books, artifacts and numerous other items for your use.
Provided by The Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Division of Education, these Resource Trunks correlate to the Illinois Learning Standards and the Illinois Early Learning Standards.

• Illinois Wild Mammals (Pre K-8th grade)
• Illinois State Symbols (K-6th grade)
• Illinois Prairies (4th-8th grade)
• People and Animals from Illinois’ Past (Pre K-8th grade)
• Illinois' Invasive Species (7th-12th grade)

Call the Bartlett Nature Center (847) 608-3100 to schedule a loan.
• Due to limited availability, 2 weeks advance notice is advised to reserve a Resource Trunk.
• 1 week loan per trunk, 1 trunk per loan.
• Pick up and return the Resource Trunk to the Bartlett Nature Center.
