JOIN THE BARTLETT PARKS FOUNDATION AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE...
The Bartlett Parks Foundation was founded in 2002 to help support the mission of the Bartlett Park District for items that are not usually funded by tax dollars, such as Financial Aid Scholarships, assistance for educational programming at the Nature Center, artwork for the community to enjoy, and other charitable works. For further information, please contact the Foundation at 630-540-4824, or email prussell@bartlettparks.org.
A tax-deductible contribution to the Foundation will help to enhance and culturally enrich the Park District and community of Bartlett. Thanks to generous donations by members and friends and from fundraisers throughout the year, the Foundation Trustees are able to present a $5,000 check to the Bartlett Park District’s Financial Aid Scholarship Fund to help with Bartlett families that are struggling financially. The Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation; any contribution made to the organization is tax-deductible as allowable by law. A donation of $100 or greater to the Bartlett Parks Foundation will be recognized with an engraved leaf or boulder installed on the Giving Tree, located within the lobby of the Bartlett Community Center.
Mission Statement... To engage the community for the support and enhancement of the Bartlett Park District through financial aid, beautification, and other non-tax funded items.
The 6th annual Twilight Golf Outing was held on Friday, September 16, 2011 at Apple Orchard Golf Course. Golfers had catered dinner from Moretti's and then went out on the course after dark to try their hand at hitting glowing golf balls to reach the holes marked with glow sticks.
The participants had a lot of fun with this event. Trophies were issued to the winning teams with the lowest and highest scores, and participants had a chance to win some great raffle prizes donated by area businesses and individuals. For more information on this outing, or if you have a prize to donate for next year's event, or if you would like to help sponsor the event for 2012, please contact Patricia Russell at 630-540-4824 or email prussell@bartlettparks.org.
The Parks Foundation's 8th Annual Turbo Turtle Race was held at the Bartlett Aquatic Center outdoor pool on July 4, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. First Place was a check for $1,000 cash, Second Place was $250.00 cash, and many other great prizes were presented. This year the turtles who have never been in the water had their chance! Turtle tickets started from 1,000 and went backwards this year.
The proceeds from the Turbo Turtle Race fundraising effort will go towards Financial Aid Scholarships for the Bartlett Park District. We sincerely thank the community for supporting the Turbo Turtle Race.
This year's Turtle Race Sponsors were: Moretti's Ristorante of Bartlett; Featherstone, Inc. of Downers Grove; Williams Architects of Carol Stream, IL; Williams Construction Management of Carol Stream, IL; American Chartered Bank of Bartlett; Harris Bank Bartlett; Speer Financial of Chicago; FGM Architects of Oak Brook; North of the Border in Bartlett, and Profile Graphics of Bartlett who once again graciously donated the Turtle Race tickets.

The Bartlett Parks Foundation and the Bartlett Nature Center held the annual Fishing Derby on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Beaver Pond Park on Kingston Lane in Bartlett. Families got to spend time with their children and experience the great American pastime of fishing. Awards were presented for the largest fish caught in several species categories and in several age groups. Area businesses generously donate some great raffle prizes. For more information on next year's event, or if you would like to help sponsor the event or have a prize to donate, please contact Dan Mitchell at 847-608-3100.
In the past few years the Foundation has donated several statues to the Bartlett Park District for the enjoyment of our community. The statue pictured above of "3 Kids on a Fence" can be found outside of the Log Cabin in Bartlett Park. Other statues are in front of Bartlett Community Center, Bartlett Aquatic Center, Oak Grove Park, and at Leiseberg Park. The Foundation also purchased several paintings that are hanging in the lobby of the Bartlett Community Center to enhance that facility. The newest sculpture was installed at Riley's Run Park during the Woofstock event in September. Several area businesses donated their time and materials to construct the base for the statue, and Heather Wolf from Air Supply donated a shelter to the large dog run. We urge you to go check it out.
