Bartlett Parks Foundation

JOIN THE BARTLETT PARKS FOUNDATION AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE...

The Bartlett Parks Foundation was founded in 2000 to help support the mission of the Bartlett Park District for items that are not usually funded by tax dollars, such as Financial Aid Scholarships, educational program assistance for the Nature Center, artwork for the community to enjoy, and other charitable works. For further information, please contact the Foundation at (630) 540-4824, or email prussell@bartlettparks.org.

A tax-deductible contribution to the Foundation will help to enhance and culturally enrich the Park District and community of Bartlett. Thanks to generous donations by members and friends and from fundraisers throughout the year, the Foundation Trustees were able to present a $5,000 check to the Bartlett Park District’s Financial Aid Scholarship Fund to help with Bartlett families that are struggling financially. The Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation; any contribution made to the organization is tax-deductible as allowable by law. A donation of $100 or more to the Bartlett Parks Foundation will be recognized with an engraved leaf or boulder installed on the Giving Tree, located in the lobby of the Bartlett Community Center.

Annual Events

ANNUAL EARTH DAY CELEBRATION -- APRIL
The Bartlett Parks Foundation partnered with the Bartlett Nature Center on the 10th Annual Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 24, 2010 and sponsored Jim Nesci's Cold Blooded Creatures Exhibit.  Nearly 1,000 members of the community came out on an overcast day to appreciate nature and to learn ways to help protect our environment.  Since 1970 Earth Day has been celebrated all over the world, helping to promote an overall awareness of the environmental issues that surround us.  For information on the 2011 Earth Day event or if you would like to help sponsor an activity or would like to have a booth set up, please contact Dan Mitchell at (847) 608-3100.

ANNUAL TURBO TURTLE RACE -- 4th of JULY
The Parks Foundation's 7th Annual Turbo Turtle Race was held on July 4, 2010 at the Bartlett Aquatic Center outdoor pool. The weather cooperated, and many people came out to dip their feet in the pool and watch the race where the first 52 speedy turtles won some great prizes.

Thanks to this year's Turtle Race Sponsors:  Williams Architects of Carol Stream, IL for donating the 2nd Place Prize.  We would also like to thank American Chartered Bank of Bartlett, Harris N.A. Bank Bartlett, and Speer Financial of Chicago for helping to underwrite the race.  Thanks also to Profile Graphics of Bartlett for donating the Turtle Race tickets and to West Suburban Bank of Bartlett for donating T-Shirts for the Foundation.

The proceeds from the Turbo Turtle Race fundraising effort will go towards Financial Aid Scholarships for the Bartlett Park District.  We sincerely thank the community for supporting this year's Turbo Turle Race and hope next year's race on July 4, 2011 will be even better.

ANNUAL FISHING DERBY -- AUGUST
The Bartlett Parks Foundation is once again partnering with the Bartlett Nature Center on the FREE annual Fishing Derby.  This family-friendly program will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Beaver Pond on Kingston Lane in Bartlett.  It is a great way for families to spend time with their children and experience the great American pastime of fishing. Awards will be presented for the largest fish caught in several species categories and in several age groups.  Area businesses generously donate some great raffle prizes.  For more information on this year's event, please contact Dan Mitchell at (847) 608-3100.

ANNUAL TWILIGHT GOLF OUTING -- SEPTEMBER
The 5th annual Twilight Golf Outing will be held at Apple Orchard Golf Course on Friday, September 17, 2010. Golfers will have dinner and then go out on the course after dark to try their hand at using glowing golf balls to hit the holes marked with glow sticks. The participants have a lot of fun with this event. Trophies are issued to the winning teams with the lowest and highest scores, and participants will have a chance to win some great raffle prizes. Last year we even had someone hit a Hole-In-One!  For more information on this year's outing or if you have a prize to donate or would like to help sponsor the event, please contact Patricia Russell at (630) 540-4824 or email prussell@bartlettparks.org.

ART IN THE PARKS
In the past few years the Foundation has donated several statues to the Bartlett Park District for the enjoyment of our community.  The statue pictured above of "3 Kids on a Fence" can be found outside of the Log Cabin in Bartlett Park. Other statues are in front of Bartlett Community Center, Bartlett Aquatic Center, Oak Grove Park, and at Leiseberg Park.  The Foundation also purchased several paintings that are hanging in the lobby of the Bartlett Community Center to enhance that facility. Watch for our new sculpture that will be be installed at Riley's Run Park later this summer.
