The Bartlett Park District is proud to be able to offer a youth basketball program for all ages and abilities, including a recreational/in-house and travel league.
Our in-house program caters for everyone from 1st Grade to High School! We fully utilize our three courts here at the Community Center as well as several of the U46 schools but because basketball is so popular here in Bartlett unfortunately it is difficult to accommodate everyone who wants to play. Therefore we do have limited enrollment in each age group and unfortunately not everyone who registers will have the opportunity to play. In order to manage this we do rely on a random draw lottery system to select players. Non-residents are not included in the random draw but if spaces exist after the initial draw non-resident registration typically begins a week later. Please register early!
All our in-house leagues are coached by volunteers so if you’re an experienced basketball player and would like to share your knowledge in a fun and low key environment teaching the kids the game then please volunteer your time to our program.
Unfortunately friendship and car pool requests cannot be honored due to the large number of participants and the blind draft procedure that we use to form teams. NO TRADES are permitted after the draft and formation of teams.
The travel leagues are designed for the more advanced, competitive player who is seeking a challenging practice and game environment to help advance their skills and game play. Tryouts are held each year where players are selected on their ability and playing time is not guaranteed. Teams are generally formed in the 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th Grade age groups for both boys and girls. Sometimes more than one team is formed per age group depending on the number of players trying out and the level of play. Practices are typically twice a week, maybe more early in the season, and games are played home and away, within an approximate 25 mile radius of Bartlett. Teams usually play anywhere between 30-50 games per season and between 2-4 tournaments, typically held on weekends.
Travel players are not permitted to play both house and travel basketball but should register for both by the in-house registration deadline. This reserves an in-house roster spot in the unfortunate event that your son/daughter is not selected for the travel team. A full refund for the travel league is given in this situation. It is recommended that your son/daughter has some basketball experience to play in this league and that you are prepared for the commitment and expectations this league demands. The initial fee to play is $150 but you can expect to pay an additional $150 to cover tournament expenses and uniform costs. A variety of opportunities for tournament play are also available throughout the season. The season runs October thru March.
Refunds requested after the registration deadline will be issued only if a replacement is found and registered. A $6 administrative fee is charged per person.
