Youth Basketball Leagues

The Bartlett Park District is proud to be able to offer a youth basketball program for all ages and abilities, including recreational/in-house and a travel league.

IN-HOUSE BASKETBALL LEAGUES

Our in-house program caters for 1st grade through High School and novices to seasoned players.  Between October and May there may be over 900 children involved in over 90 teams.  All games (excluding 1st and 2nd Grade) are officiated by IHSA certified and qualified officials.

We utilize the three courts at the Community Center for games as well as several of the U46 schools for practice locations.  Basketball is a popular youth sport here in Bartlett and with limited gym space it can be difficult to accommodate everyone who wants to play. Therefore, we do have limited enrollment in each age group and unfortunately not everyone who registers will have the opportunity to play. In order to manage this we rely on a random draw lottery system to select players. Non-residents are not included in the random draw but if spaces exist after the initial draw non-resident registration typically begins a week later.  Please try not to miss the deadlines!

1st and 2nd Grade teams are randomly selected, balancing the number of boys and girls on each team.  All other teams are formed following an evaluation of players skills and then a coaches blind draft. The only players guaranteed to be on a team are the children of the “official” head and assistant coach. A maximum of 10 players are assigned to each team.  Friendship, car pool or coach requests cannot be honored as it is essential we balance the teams as best as possible.  No trades are permitted after the draft and formation of teams.  A T-shirt is included in the registration fee.

Our program requires the talent and effort of a team of willing volunteers. We are always recruiting head and assistant coaches. If you would like to volunteer for a position be sure to check the box on the registration form or complete the volunteer application form.  We provide all the necessary training, resources and equipment to ensure you are prepared to coach and have a fun and rewarding experience.

 

BARTLETT HAWKS TRAVEL BASKETBALL

The boys and girls travel basketball leagues are designed for those players wanting to take the next step from in-house.  It’s a great opportunity to develop skills and strategy in a more structured and competitive environment.  Home games are played at BCC but traveling to away games, up to approximately 30 minutes away, is required.  The fee to play is $300/$350 (R/NR) and this includes up to 4 tournaments.  An additional uniform cost of approximately $60 is required.

Annual tryouts are typically in September.  Travel players are not permitted to play in the in-house leagues.

2010/11 Tryout Information

GIRLS

Tuesday & Thursday, September 14th & 16th. (Attendance on both days is encouraged)

5th & 6th Grade from 6-7:30pm and 7th & 8th Grade from 7:30-9pm.

The girls program is designed as a “feeder” program for Bartlett High School and players are strongly encouraged to tryout and participate within their school boundaries. However, Bartlett residents are eligible for the Hawks program.  BHS Coaches are involved in the program and welcome all players.

BOYS

Monday & Wednesday, September 13th & 15th. (Attendance on both days is encouraged)

5th Grade from 6-7pm, 6th & 7th Grade from 6-7:30pm.

The boys program, 4th-6th Grade, is open to all Bartlett residents and is designed as a developmental program.  BHS Coaches are involved in the program and welcome all players. 

7th & 8th Grade Boys Feeder basketball is managed through Bartlett High School and is a true “feeder” BHS teams.  Please contact hawksfeeder@hotmail.com for more tryout information.

 

BOYS AND GIRLS TRAVEL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

December 3rd, 4th & 5th, 2010 - Our annual tournament is run in conjunction with Bartlett High School Booster Club and offers competitive divisions for Boys 4th -8th Grade and Girls 5th-8th Grade. The majority of games will be played at Bartlett Community Center.

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR BOTH BOYS & GIRLS

Pre-registration for travel team tryouts is advised.  Players trying out for the travel teams are strongly encouraged to also register for the in-house league before the deadline (if registration is open for that grade).  If your child is selected to play travel you will automatically be refunded the in-house fee.  If your child does not make the travel team, the travel team fee will automatically be refunded.   Team fees for travel are due in full before the start of the season.

Team Sports Refund Policy Refunds requested after the registration deadline will be issued only if a replacement is found and registered. A $6 administrative fee is charged per person.  The uniform portion of the registration fee is not guaranteed to be refunded.
